Octaves: 2-3 octaves handbells
Arr. by: Malcolm C. Wilson
AGEHR Level: I
Description: Based on a traditional Gaelic melody from the Isle of Tiree, off the west coast of Scotland, this song is often credited to Alexander MacLean Sinclair, who collected and
published many collections of Gaelic cultural material in the 19th century. The words Ho-Ri Ho-Ro (pronounced Ho-Ree Ho-Ro) are vocables, or words that
don't necessarily have any meaning but are often used in Highland Scots music.
The melody has been set to the modern hymn text by John Bell and Graham
Maule, The God of Heaven is Present on Earth and can be performed under that alternate title.
